Dr. Glen’s recent research has focused on capstone courses for music education students. She has studied the process of “reflective journaling” for its value both to students 对全体教员.
Usually completed during the senior year, capstone courses provide students with an opportunity to interpret their own undergraduate experiences 和 synthesize concepts as they prepare to enter the professional workplace. The exercise can have positive effects upon their career development. At the same time, these journals can provide useful feedback for faculty 和 program assessment.
Working with undergraduates in UNC’s own BME program, Dr. Glen’s research has shown how reflective journaling not only encourage students to make meaning of their own experiences, but also help 音乐教育 faculty improve their curriculum 和 pedagogy at the bachelor’s degree level.
